All the cliches were present - female lead with a secret; the supernatural critters either want her or want to kill her; she's got hidden powers. I like Gabriel, and I knew right away who her later second love interest would be, and I didn't mind him, although I hate love triangles. I'm sorry but this kind of thing you just can't win a reader back from.

I don't know what a binding felt like to anyone else but it made me feel like elephants had been tap-dancing on me. At least her sudden abilities, and ability to use those abilities, is explained. Maybe it's because they believe they'll be reincarnated as the Princess of Monacodoes anybody want to be reincarnated as the Princess of Monaco anymore?

When the beautiful Gabriel Angeloscuro (the name a rare clunker on Henry's part) comes to look at the apartment, Maddy invites him in--and thereby welcomes a host of disasters. It has a great world-building, a funny and witty heroine and a sidekick made of perfect. So I really wanted Mrs. Luccardi to leave her carnivorous little fuzzballs and come with me, pronto.I hadn't even untethered her soul yet.
