Does it sound right that a new one of these would cost £275?Might as well buy a pair and replace shock inserts and top mounts whilst your there...sounds like the spring platform on the suspension leg has collapsed due to rust (not uncommon) new is expensive and probably that sort of figure.There must be any number of people breaking these cars that a good pair of legs should be easy enough to find (try posting in the wanted) its then a simple spanner job to change them over (an hour a side max if you have good spring compressors)certainly not an £800 fix and not a reason to scrap if the car is otherwise good!if you search ebay under 'bmw e28' it should catch most of the cars that are on.Thanks guys - I'm really not ready to let go of it yet - had it for 3 years and loved driving every minute of it.
