As a Clinical Care Extender, you will become a valuable member of the patient care team in the hospital setting. Program Overview: The Clinical Care Extender Program is designed to give the pre-health students unprecedented access to direct patient care experience. As a Clinical Care Extender, you will serve a minimum of one, four-hour shift each week until you accumulate 240 hours of volunteer service. Requires a 4 hour/week, 3 month commitment. Before you begin volunteering, you will attend a mandatory three-day training session, where you will learn hospital safety, medical topics and how to find your way around the hospital. We provide outpatient mental health and addiction medicine services to health plan members throughout the San Diego area.
