I am hoping that we can get some good fares from Jetblue so that way he can take the train which would be much easier but until than it is Southwest/Laguardia.Any suggestions as the best way from Laguardia to Columbia U.Taxi? The closest airport to Columbia is LaGuardia Airport (LGA).The M60 SBS bus from LGA airport is the most inexpensive transportation option to/from Pupin Hall (hop on/off at 120th Street and Broadway stop). Before boarding, you must pay the fare at the collection machine at the bus stop, and keep the receipt during your trip.Taxi The fare ($2.00) can be paid by quarters or by MetroCard. Re: Transportation from Laguardia to Columbia University While the neighborhood has changed a lot since you were there (mostly for the better) there still are not that many hotels within walking distance.

The drop-off coming from LaGuardia is directly across the street.

I have to agree with the other posters that the dorm rooms are probably your best bet to be close to the festivities without breaking the bank. Additionally, the school is offering private dorm rooms with private bath for only $100/night. From LGA you can either take the M60 bus directly from your terminal to the gates of Columbia (it stops right across Broadway from the main gate at 116th St) for $2 per person or you can take a taxi for about $25-35 with toll … m60-sbs to select bus west side broadway-106 st. lga/terminal d ; lga/terminal c ; terminal b/hov lane ; lga/terminal a ; ditmars bl/grand central py ; astoria bl n/77 st ; astoria bl/steinway st. 0.5 miles away ; hoyt av/31 st ; e 125 st/2 av ; e 125 st/lexington av.

A university is a place to learn new stuff, right?

If you don't mind subway/bus/cab to and from campus, though, that would be ok. I did see their address but it is of no use to me since I do not know what part of town in harlem it is.Harlem is a vast area stretching and extending to 160th Street - Cokumbia Medical Center starts at 164th Street or so....just adjacent to the borders of "HARLEM".I'm somewhat taken aback that you did not know this information - readily available on a quick GOOGLE search which I just performed to get some details for this reply.Your offspring will be traveling through Harlem many times as a Columbia student. And not to take advantage of the dental school - because you think it is not in a safe area...ridiculous.poppa, I am guessing you are having a bad day.

approaching ; e 125 st/park av. !taradon - you are not taking your own advice and assuming I'm having a bad day.Columbia borders Harlem and your student will be traversing this area of town many times during his tenure at Columbia.I suggest you do some research on the area then you will be able to get a sense of the area.In the past few years Harlem has become gentrified with many area cleaned up and renewed to it's past glory. In fact there are many new housing units in the area and former President Bill Clinton has his offices in the area.Just wanted to get you to find out more about this section of the City through your own research. It never hurts to know as much about a place as you can and maybe your fears of it being safe will be allayed. And no, I'm not having a bad day - this is just the way I am!you sounded much gentler in your last post than your earlier post so I "assumed" you are having a bad day.Of course, I can google but My main question was not about If everyone googles than what is the use of posting here.

Re: Transportation from Laguardia to Columbia University

Bus Five bus lines (M4, M5, M11, M60, M104) serve the Columbia neighborhood. Would this be by train, cab or shuttle or private car service?

The M60 bus line is a direct link between Columbia and LaGuardia Airport. The M60 Select Bus Services launched on Sunday, May 25, 2014.

The M60 bus from LGA goes very near Columbia, so I'd recommend that over EWR--even a cab ride would be pretty quick and easy.

The M60 SBS will feature transit signal priority in Manhattan in the future.
