On the surface, yes, it looks like it means if something is bugging you, just bludgeon it to death, but deep down, it means a lot more than that to me and is really a source of inspiration. In spite of the attention the poem has received over the years, I still did not know that it was also Nelson Mandela’s favorite piece which perhaps only adds to its appeal.

Iâm a bit disappointed that you regret it and Iâll keep standing by it and maybe with time Iâll forget that you kind of renunciated it.I have enjoyed zenpencils for a while now- i first came across them on another website. I just wanted to add that Iâd read that Mandela and other black prisoners were forced to wear short pants instead of long trousers as part of their humiliation. Ithaka - C.P. Iâm not ashamed of the first one, this Mandela adaptation gave me a chance to tackle the poem again and in the two years since I did the first version, the comics and learning about all the people whose words Iâve worked on have changed me into a more open-minded person, someone who wouldnât draw a boy bludgeoning enemies with a hammer. If the poem was published in 1875, it was probably the proper use of the word then!It means ânarrow, tight, or confiningâ, as in the Straits of Gibraltar or a straitjacket.Thank you for this version, but your first version is my favourite of zenpencils ever. It help me heal when i thought I was beyond hope.
