Signs at each animal told a detailed story.We really enjoy visiting the Animal Ark just 20-30 minutes outside of Reno.
High recommended & not pricey at all!We love Animal Ark! Admission is not very expensive and it goes to supporting this animal sanctuary. "Animal Ark Wildlife Sanctuary is now open with social distancing, groups no larger than 10 patrons, and one-way traffic flow. You almost run to see each difference exhibit. Review of Animal Ark Reviewed February 27, 2020 This is a great place to visit - kids will love it as well as adults. We love their mission and they are taking steps to ensure the safety of their visitors-one way flow of traffic, regulating distancing in lobby and workers wear masks. This is much more personal and "up close" where the animals are more visible from the front of the cages (or glass viewing). Meh. I can respect that they are rescuing and taking care of these animals but we kind of believe that for a full-time home, their living quarters were extremely small for them to be comfortable. This is an exceptional place to take younger children who can This place is a rescue sanctuary and they have a story for each of the animals there. At first it may look like a small zoo but really it is a animal rescue center. You'll see a lot of well-taken rescued animals such as bears, owls, mountain lions, badgers, etc.

The Animal Ark is an amazing animal tour to take the entire family. Okay, that I can overlook. Admission is not very expensive and it goes to supporting this animal sanctuary. The personnel who work at the Ark truly care for all of their animals. It's a living space for animals that were either found injured (Mountain Lion Milo), left behind (Mountain Lion Daniel), couldn't be taken care of by their owners (Tiger Poppy), or were about to be killed for fur (Lynx C.J.). To my knowledge, we do not have vehicles driving on pedestrian pathways for safety reasons and use service carts instead. That's not terrible if you operate a wildlife sanctuary. It was sad to learn about so many cases of animal neglect - but you walk away feeling grateful for the work that Animal Ark does!I visited this place while I was in Reno and REALLY loved it here. However, I feel a few corrections are necessary. The owl, tiger and bears are so close you could almost touch them, which is much better than most zoo's.Sadly, though understandably, Animal Ark is not open during the winter, but this place has left a long lasting impression on me since visiting in the summer of 2017 and I wanted to leave a review.Wow!
The staff was so friendly and the animals were all so wonderful to look at and admire! The park houses a wide variety of exotic animals who have been rescued from around the country. This is an animal sanctuary.

There's not a lot of animals but we still spent a lot of time, about two hours, to see them because each has a story and the volunteers have a lot to say about them. This is a great place to bring kids and any out of town visitors. Gracie the older dominant female gets fed at 1:30. Although it's located in Reno, its nowhere near the casinos.
They have enclosures that mimic their natural environment and seem … The animals come from a variety of backgrounds (mostly rescues) and none can be released back to the wild.
