There are plenty more outdoor activities on the property including hiking, fishing, miniature golf, horse shoes, basketball, shuffle board, a playground, frisbee golf, etc -- we even recently found a cave to explore for those not afraid of small spaces. :) There are also a number of cool nature attractions within a short car ride, including Elephant Rock State Park and the recently opened Johnson Shut-ins. I loved sleeping on the screened-in porch at our Hilltop cabin while the rest of the family slept inside under their quilts.Fun to be upstairs in the Hilltop cabins, but the bottom rooms were just as nice.The Wilderness Lodge hosted the 50th reunion of our Peace Corps group with great warmth, wonderful service, acres of greenery, and cozy cabins. Personally we liked the river access right behind the cabin. And, we found them to be very CoVid-compliant which was comforting.
Making arrangements in advance was far easier than other options that we did not follow through. Are stay was great. We stayed in a Hillside Cabin that was very quaint and comfortable. They came down once which was great. We enjoyed Happy Hour(s), a lovely raft down the Black River, soaking in the delightful pool and the very warm hospitality. Lots of activities for families are available on-site. The bathroom is spaceous, and I enojoyed having the in room mini-fridge and coffee pot. We stayed in the river suites and they are so charming. We port floaters upstream in the morning for a 4 to 6 hour float (depending upon how fast the river is moving and how many gravel bar breaks you take) that ends up right back at our rivers edge campground.
