CHALLENGES IN MODERN ASTROPHYSICS


Venue



   All participants will be accommodated at the Academy hotel . Free meals are provided in the restaurant of the hotel. The lecture hall is in the same building. LAN internet is available in the hotel and eventually wireless internet in the lecture hall.
BAN Hotel    There are rooms reserved for all participants for the nights of October 12, 13 and 14. If somebody would like to stay longer or to come earlier, please contact LOC (kpanov@astro.bas.bg and renada@astro.bas.bg ) BEFORE September 25. Please inform us if you would like to come with your spouse. If you have some special diet (vegetarian, etc.) please let us know in advance.


   How to go from airport to the Hotel?

The easiest way to reach the hotel is by taxi. For your convenience and safety, we would recommend you to use the services of the taxi companies, which Sofia Àirport has contracts with. They are:

The offices are located at Arrivals Hall – Terminal 2. You can also take a taxi directly at the taxi stands, located in front of the western exit of the building of the Terminal 2. The taxi fees should be written on the car's window. They are approximately :

Initial charge - 0.60 BGN (~0.30E)
Daytime rate - 0.59/km BGN (6.00 a.m. - 10.00 p.m.)
Nighttime rate - 0.70/km BGN (10.00 p.m. - 6.00 a.m.)
Wait rate - 0.18 BGN/min
Call-out charge - 0.50 BGN


   Not-an-easy way - by bus:

From Sofia airport you may take bus N 284 (near Terminal 2). The price of a ticket is 1 BGN (approximately 0.5 euro). Tickets can be purchased from the pavillion at the bus stop. Get off the bus at Pliska bus stop (you will see Pliska hotel on the right side). The Hotel is about 500 m from the Pliska hotel (See map).




National currency:

Bulgarian lev (pl. leva). Coins with smaller denomination are called "stotinki" (100 stotinki = 1 lev). There are banknotes of 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 leva. and coins of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 stotinki. You can exchange a small amount at the airoport exchange office.

!!! IMPORTANT !!!

Do not exchange money in the streets or outside banks and currency exchange offices despite the advantageous rate offered. The danger of deception is considerable.
