I called a week before our reservation to see if we could reserve a Cabana. Also Kalahari is spread out and Castaway Bay is smaller and compact which means you don't have a long walk from ride to ride. On Sunday the lines were almost non-existent, and on Tuesday before we left it was us and about 3 or 4 other families. We have been to both resorts in the past - but thought it would be fun to do a back-to-back comparison. I had to go down to the cafe in the morning to get coffee due to the six person occupancy room we rented had 2 ,4 cup packets.
The waterpark was wonderful with very attentive staff/life guards but the hotel was terrible. Relevance.

It was costly but a great mid-winter weekend. The wave pool is about 1.5 times the size of Castaway Bay. This is definitely a waterpark for ages like 7 and up but we had a great time. It is expensive but it was worth it...I was here for a business trade show.
I am talking about the ones in ohio. I'd recommend if you stay there to try to get a view.You would expect nicer rooms at a property that charges as much as this. We were impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the warm water in all of the attractions. Castaway Bay waterpark is the best designed water park we've seen. Kalahari's wave pool is underneath a huge solarium, so when the sun is out, it feels like you're at a beach in a way. What isn the best overall? The Kolahari might be better for teenagers because it has more thrilling rides but the Castaway Bay setup was great for our family. And this wasn't even valet!!! They had one left for $400, which is way too much for my budget. For reservations, call: 419-627-2106. Any Hampton in would be better. Keep those stair climbing shoes handy. We went once in summer and it was great too but the winter rates are cheaper and that park did not seem nearly as crowded. We spent a weekend here with 3 teenaged grandsons. It was crowded, but it was a weekend.

The hotel itself lived up to its reputation of being older, and honestly, I expected a little bit more out of the rooms. Dolphin Room. Castaway Bay was great for our family of 6 kids aged 11 to 2 months. The room was nice and CLEAN, which is my main concern for my children. This topic has been closed to new posts due to inactivity. LIKED: Two 15 year old girls had a blast. The line in the cafe was out the door from people ordering coffee like I was and again, only one clerk there. I recommend the suite if staying with kids. Check in time STARTS at 4:00 which means you might get your room by 6:00. Purchased two days off Groupon. It had all the comforts of home. It has a separate bedroom with its own door and a jig size bed, a fireplace, balcony, a full kitchen, dishwasher, all plates, silverware, cooking utensils, etc. This was on a sold out weekend.Room service has an 18% gratuity added on for anything so we left the property for all three meals.They have only two elevators for 400+ rooms and they're in the very back of the hotel.

Our boys were there the entire time it was open taking time out only to eat. The nice thing about this waterpark was that is was not busy at all. We would definitely stay again, it was like being a world away. Kalahari is wonderful but there won't be as much stuff for the small ones. Sleeps 3. I'm looking to go to one of these places for my sons 3rd birthday/anniversary for a night/day. It is a beautiful place and the only con I really have is that some of the young guys and girls that work there are a bit RUDE.
