JAWS (Jaffe WAR Score system) was developed by sabermetrician Jay Jaffe as a means to measure a player's Hall of Fame worthiness. My knee jerk reaction was a solid no for Torii.

You spun a good case so i looked at JAWS, where Torii is at 34, right behind guys like Curtis Granderson, Ellis Burks, Devon White, and Brett Butler. In 12 of his 17 seasons he was good for 3+ WAR* each year. I said in the 2019 thread that I would start this forum thread...  Look at where Donaldson … I mean Rafael Palmero won a gold glove and I think he only played like 28 games in the field that year.

According to Baseball Reference’s projections for the 2020 season, Donaldson is expected to hit .253/.361/.503 with 30 HR and 76 RBI, a tad lower than his average during the last seven seasons. Your first statement that he won this many gold gloves tells the story. I enjoyed this - I like the HOF speculation and often hate the voters choices (Baines) so who can predict.I see both in the Twins HOF - and that is good enough. No to Torii.Fun player, good player, but nothing comparable to Mays, Cobb, Mantle, DiMaggio. He is #34 on the Jaws CF rankings between Curtis Granderson and Willie Wilson.Josh Donaldson is #29 in jaws 3B ranks - but remember there are fewer 3b (15) HOF players than other positions (DH is not a position).

Granderson might actually be the perfect comp for him as well. Weight.

(Note: I'm not saying there haven't been excellent players who declined after 28, just no player who matches Donaldson's career arc.

At 34, there’s still ways to go and he did finish 11th for NL MVP as well as leading the Braves to the postseason. Josh Donaldson. Donaldson’s peak bWAR is what really stands out thanks to his impressive seven-year run. Given his past experience of a 43.8 bWAR over the last seven seasons, it can be safe to assume he can produce at least a third of that over the next four seasons. Let's take a look. So, in the past 60-plus years, there have been two really good comps for Donaldson: Martinez and Zobrist.

You spun a good case so i looked at JAWS, where Torii is at 34, right behind guys like Curtis Granderson, Ellis Burks, Devon White, and Brett Butler. It is also above Hall of Famers such as Edgar Martinez, Paul Molitor and Jimmy Collins. His resume doesn’t impress most baseball fans, but with a little bit of research and extra context, he’s making the case for being a future Hall of Famer. In the last 7 seasons, Donaldson has put up some very impressive numbers. CON L. 104. Baseball-Reference values Donaldson at 15.4 WAR over those two years, second among position players behind only Then the A's traded him to the Blue Jays in November, a controversial deal considering that Donaldson is just entering his first year of arbitration and has four seasons remaining until free agency. A lot will matter where Donaldson signs this offseason, but one thing is for certain.

That would give him a bWAR of about 14.5 over the next four seasons.

And the stat which would have made his case electible was 1525 career RBIs. Josh Donaldson rumors, news and videos from the best sources on the web. We present them here for purely educational purposes. He was a great player in his peak (2013–2017), putting up 30.9 oWAR and 7.0 dWAR. I also liked that he talked about race in ways that made white audiences uncomfortable. Otherwise those would be the first things mentioned and then they'd say oh and he also won this many gold gloves.I completely agree - one more aspect of gold gloves is repetition and less work to just keep awarding the gold glove to the same person year after year.Did Kaat and Maddox really deserve all those gold gloves? You brought up the best example of all in Palmeiro. Here are more examples That is exactly what I was saying, hardly ever does anyone talk about gold gloves first when talking about a hall of fame career. That would still be better than his 2018 season and would mean his peak bWAR would increase to 45.9, which would tie Dick Allen for 10th-all time as well as 2.9 points above the average Hall of Fame third basemen.

Josh Donaldson.

Why? That's actually kind of rare both in actually number of seasons but also in % of seasons played. 6'1" Age. Matt Braun I went searching for players since 1950 who were among the best in baseball in their age 27-28 seasons but who hadn't done much before that to see if there was somebody comparable -- and then to see how those players aged.First, I was surprised to see where Donaldson ranked: His 15.4 WAR puts him tied for 13th in age 27-28 value with Chuck Knoblauch, just behind Anyway, I did find a few similar players.
FARGO — The Minnesota Twins made a free agent splash last week, signing slugging third baseman Josh Donaldson to a four-year deal reportedly worth more than $90 million. (I am not saying Hunter was better than Raines).
