I see Joe Howard and Stgeve Koeffler start out on a mission I've already read the running of, and extraction from. Since it is a sequel, reading the first two novels is necessary to get a full grasp of COUNTERATTACK.

This series reminds us all of the cost war does to us spiritually and emotionally as well as physically and in Post-9/11 America, we can still need that kind of lesson today.I enjoy this series and Counterattack (#3 of 10) is excellent, also. Instead of spending time with Pick and McCoy, we spend time with the higher ranks in the Corps and Navy, and also gain some outside perspective on MacArthur during his time in Australia. Way better books out there to be read.Superb storytelling, a mix of interesting fictional characters and historical nonfiction. The series revolves around character's Wu Suowei and Chi Cheng. It is set in WW2 between the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the invasion of Guadalcanal.

I finished reading the Corps and am having to wait for Call to Arms because it is checked out of the library.

Was this the start of the joint Chiefs of staff?Kind of long and repetitive and no real action until the battle Guadalcanal.

Most of the United States Pacific feet was destroyed and the United States entered World War II.I love how W.E.B.Griffin spins a tale that is immersed in fact and fiction. Griffin book that’s part of yet another series. If there was one small criticism it would be all the characters that were in the book. Through Pickering's reports, we learn about big picture concerns, including Army-Navy infighting that made our military less effective. Boring is my best description, and will finish this series for me, ends here.


I guess you really have to read them to “get it”.

I listened to the entire series when I was a truck driver. From what I understand, Wu Suowei's girlfriend breaks up with him to be with a much more wealthy and good looking prospect - Chi Cheng. Flem Pickering is SECNAVs man as he follows McArthur's camp to Brisbane.Web Griffin writes tales of the military from a different standpoint from the Jeff Sharras of our day in that he focuses on the psychology of men in uniform instead of throwing out the Big Battle Scenes which, tho' enjoyable, get boring if drawn out and overdone and Corps 3: Counterattack is no exception. I guess you really have to read them to “get it”. Familiar characters from the first two books remain and new characters are introduced.COUNTERATTACK (book 3) is a continuation of SEMPER FI (book 1) and CALL TO ARMS (book 2).


Counterattack Web Series. I was able to follow and understand but having all the different characters made you really follow the book.
